Lets Talk Christie, Agatha Christie.
Hello everyone and welcome to another blogpost! I hope everyone's week has been fantastic and you're ready to begin a new and exciting week! I wanted to base this weeks blog on my all-time favourite mystery author Agatha Christie. If you have been following my Bookstagram and if you read last weeks book review on Daisy Darker you will know how much I LOVE and how much I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Agatha Christie's work. If you read last weeks blog, I did a lot of comparing to Agatha Christie's work and spoke so highly of it. This blog will explain why I enjoy reading her books and why she has made the list of all-time favourites.
How it all started...
I have a vague memory from years ago (when I was A LOT younger), of myself sitting and watching TV with my family, and I think it was my grandfather or my mother who had some old shows playing and it was a Miss Marple series. I remember enjoying this so much; not knowing back then who Agatha Christie was or that Miss Marple was based off a book series. Fast forward to many years later, I was on the hunt for a new and exciting author to read. I remember browsing through Goodreads and Book Depository in search for my next great read after finishing The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I was in the mood for a good whodunnit mystery, searching 'top mystery authors' or something along those lines. And that's when I came across Agatha Christie. I read the synopsis of a few of her books on Goodreads and I remember getting so excited about how great they sounded! I showed my mum and she told me she knew of and possibly read Agatha Christie when she was younger. We then connected the past with the present, as she told me that I enjoyed watching the TV adaptations of her books. I ordered my first book from Book Depository and the rest, as they say, is history. I took my first book with my on a trip to Fiji with my boyfriend (who is now my husband) and remember being absolutely hooked! It was so intriguing that even my partner was invested in it! From then I began to collect all editions of her books and storing them on my bookshelf, not caring how many copies of the same book I have.
Why I highly recommend Agatha Christie
In my experience reading Christie's work, I have always been hooked from the very beginning of each book and all the way through to the end. Agatha Christie's writing is flawless. She wrote with so much passion and so much description that you actually felt like you were part of the story. She creates the most interesting characters in all of her stories which keeps you constantly entertained.
Agatha Christie's mysteries are also unpredictable! There's never a time when I read a book of hers where I can predict what's going to happen or who the murderer is; and this is what I call true talent. Christie will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing all the way through to the end. The plot twists are also AMAZING and one's you never see coming. I've mentioned this in my previous blog and I will mention it again here. Crooked House and And Then There Were None are my two absolute favourites and two that I highly recommend reading if you want to get into reading an Agatha Christie novel. These are standalone novels which I think is a good way to start when trialing a new author. Although I have high hopes that if you pick up any of her books you're guaranteed to enjoy them.
Christie's mysteries are fun, cozy and easy to follow along. If you're looking at expanding your genre's and want to get into reading a mystery novel, I recommended starting with Agatha Christie.
QOTD: What Agatha Christie novel have you read so far? Or if you haven't, do you have any one your TBR shelf?
